Car parts DE TOMASO
De Tomaso was a car brand, the history of which started in 1959 in Modena, Italy. The brand belonged to a company which ceased operations in 2012. The marque gained popularity thanks to its sports cars: initially, the company founder designed cars for racing, including the Formula-1 championship. Later, they made a decision to make cars for urban conditions. But components from racing cars were used.
Brand cars
The model range included passenger cars in body versions of a coupe, barchetta, roadster, saloon. The Pantera coupe of 1971 – 1993 was the most famous car of the brand. Moreover, the Mangusta designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and produced between 1967 and 1971 is still popular among collectors. Gull-wing doors were its unique feature.
Advantages of De Tomaso cars
- Innovative design. The Vallelunga model, produced in 1964 - 1968, was the first Italian sports car with a mid-engine layout and tubular frame.
- Top-notch equipment. For example, the Mangusta coupe got an air-conditioner and power windows in 1967. Disc brake system was installed on both axles. The price of this model was rather low despite its extensive equipment. And its owners could enjoy comfort without extra expenses using inexpensive but reliable spare parts for De Tomaso.
- Impressive speed. Paul Frère, a Belgian racer and journalist, confirmed that one could reach 250 km/h behind the wheel of Mangusta. For the Pantera, this value was 270 km/h.
- Great acceleration dynamics. The Guarà vehicle, produced between 1993 and 2004, could reach 100 km/h in about 5 seconds.
