Diagnostics
Diagnosis is recommended during every oil change every 10 000-15 000 km. First, you need to inspect the belt. In the presence of strong external damage the item should be replaced. Presence of small cracks on the edges is allowed. If the distance between the cracks is less than one centimeter, the level of the belt wear has exceeded 80%. Then you need to inspect the pulleys for the presence of foreign particles. Use a special tool to check the grooves. It must be positioned at the inner side of the belt. Lowering the tool on or below the level of the grooves indicates fault. You can check by hand whether the belt has slipped out of the pulley.
Replacing the Alternator belt
The maximum capacity of the V-ribbed belt is 4 years of operation, after the expiry the item needs to be replaced. Repair and restoration work concerning the belt are not held. Before removing the belt it is necessary to remove the top of the air filter and a flow meter. Then extract the solenoid valve, dismantle the bottom of the air filter. To remove the belt, loosen the tensioner. When installing a new part it must be placed in the middle of the pulley, unscrewing the tensioner screw. install all the items in reverse order.
