The Rover 100 are vehicles produced between 1990 and 1998. Until 1994, this model was sold under the name Metro in Great Britain. The cars were assembled in the British city of Birmingham.
The background of Rover 100
The manufacturer has released one generation of the model for the domestic market and two generations for export. Initially, the automaker offered three- and five-door hatchbacks. Their compact size enabled them to manoeuvre with confidence in cramped city streets. The length of the three-door version was 3521mm, its width was 1370, its height was 1550 mm. With rear seats folded, the luggage compartment capacity could reach 552 l.
The exterior featured almost rectangular headlamps, sculptured lines on the bonnet, colour-coded mirror housings and door handles, while the interior could boast seats with lateral support. The standard equipment included an air conditioner and fuel-efficient engines. For example, the cars were fitted with 1.1 l 60 hp petrol power units that kept the fuel consumption in the mixed cycle under 6 l per 100 km.
The features of Rover 100 (II generation)
The second generation available from 1994 was made with a convertible, three- and five-door hatchback body styles. As before, their main competitive advantage was a relatively low price. As for the exterior, the outlines of the headlights became smoother. The long and narrow radiator grille was almost oval. The central embossed line disappeared from the bonnet. The car body became overall more streamlined.
At the customer's request, the interior upholstery could be made of leather. Besides, there were decorative wooden inserts. Higher trim levels had front power windows. An alarm, immobilizer and central locking were also available optionally.
