Daewoo Lanos cars are produced since 1997 till present. In Europe they were available till 2004. In different years assembling was performed in South Korea, Egypt, Russia, Ukraine, Poland and Vietnam. These cars were sold under Chevrolet brand in Ukraine, Russia and Egypt, and under FSO brand – in Poland. In Russia they were also known as ZAZ Chance and Doninvest Assol, in Egypt – as Daewoo Juliet Sport, in Ukraine – as ZAZ Sens.

History of Daewoo Lanos cars

This model was presented by one generation and one restyled version. The cars, produced in 1997, got T100 index. 3- and 5-door hatchbacks were 4074 mm long, and Daewoo Lanos saloon – 4235 mm. Width of both bodies was 1678 mm, height – 1432 mm. Car systems were tested in different places of the world. For example, brakes were tested on Großglockner – the highest mountain in Austria. Operation of the car in low temperature conditions was tested in Canada, Sweden and Russia.

Famous designer Giorgetto Giugiaro worked on Daewoo Lanos exterior. The radiator grille was visually divided into 3 parts and outlined by the chromed frame. Protruded lines stretched from it onto the bonnet. Drop-shaped headlights were on both sides of the grille. The door handles and side mirrors were black, and bumpers were painted in body colour. The rear lights got oval form, while these elements of hatchback were narrower than those of saloon.

The cars were front-wheel drive. In extended trim level they were equipped with CD- and cassette-players, radio, power windows, power side mirrors. Restyling of the model took place in 2000.

The restyled cars could be easily distinguished from the predecessors due to renewed car lightning. Thus, saloon got unusual rear lights: the unit included drop-shaped stop signals, turn indicators and reverse lights that didn’t adhere to each other. The shape of the rear lights of 3- and 5-door Lanos hatchbacks remained the same, but location of light elements changed.

The renewed cars were standardly equipped with ABS system. Moreover, the cars got improved sound insulation. All their engines were updated to comply with Euro-3 eco-standard.
