At first, cars of this company were available only in Wuhu, the city located in Anhui province, where the manufacture took place and the company’s customers were the representatives of the local government. In 2001, it started to supply its vehicles to Syria becoming the first car exporter in China. At present, the company owns four brand names, 6 car plants and 11 assembly plants all over the world.

In the beginning, the cars of the brand were based on Seat Toledo. Later the company not only created its own platform but also established an engine development department followed by a laboratory where together with the American company MTS Systems it tests its vehicles. Elaborating designs, the Chinese company actively cooperates with world-famous firms Bertone and Pininfarina. Lately, the company has started to pay special attention to the quality of its products trying to comply with the level of world’s leading manufacturers and Chery parts are used in cars made by General Motors and Volvo corporations.

The model range of the marque includes only passenger cars as commercial vehicles are made under other brand names which belong to the automaker. The range of available body styles includes three- and five-door hatchbacks, liftbacks, saloons, five-door estate cars, minivans and crossovers.
