Tesla is an American company that produces electric cars. It was established by Martin Eberhard, Elon Musk, Marc Tarpenning, Jeffrey Brian Straubel and Ian Wright in 2003. In February 2017, the trademark Tesla became the best American car brand according to the Consumer Reports magazine and was ranked the 8th among global carmakers.
The Tesla vehicles
The first production car of the brand – the Roadster model – was manufactured in 2008. It was the first electric car in the world which was equipped with lithium-ion battery cells and the first vehicle that could cover 320km without a recharge.The price of the cars from the brand is continuously decreasing: from $ 100,000 for the first 100 units of the roadster to 35,000 for the Model 3 unveiled in 2017. In future, the company is planning to reduce the price of the vehicles of their own production and make electric cars affordable for an average consumer.
At present, the model range of the company is presented by 3 models only. Nevertheless, they are produced in quite large quantities: for example, the number of pre-orders for the Model 3 in June 2017 reached 500,000. The range of available body styles includes saloons, five-door hatchbacks and crossovers.
The assembly of these brand cars, as well as the production of Tesla parts, is carried out on the plants located in California and Nevada states.
Advantages of the Tesla vehicles
Excellent dynamic characteristics. The Model S accelerates up to 100 kph in just 2.5 seconds. Such a fast speed-up becomes possible due to two engines used – one for the front axle, the other for the rear one. They do not only provide excellent dynamics but also distribute the torque among four wheels like all-wheel drive.
Long battery range. The Models S can cover the distance of nearly 520 km without re-charge which allows you to travel long-distances without worrying.
Innovative interior. The 17-inch digital screen works in night and day modes which makes the information readable regardless of outside lighting. Cabin filter called HEPA retains up to 99.97% of contaminants, bacteria and allergens and the bioweapon defence mode can purify the air from the lethal concentration of chemicals in just 2 minutes.
