SAAB 90 parts: find out more!
The Saab 90 coupe was manufactured between 1984 and 1987. The production was carried out in Finland. The car was available only in some European countries. The manufacturer made a total of 25,378 units and about 10,000 of them were sold in Sweden.
The history of Saab 90
The predecessor of this carl was model 99. The new car, which had only one generation, was developed by the Swedish designer Björn Envall. The car is considered to be the last budget-friendly product of the brand.
A limited number of cars with the Lumikko trim level was produced specially for the Finnish market in 1985. Their bodies, door handles and wing mirror housings were painted white, and they had a rear spoiler. This trim level was created by the Finnish dealer Scan-Auto. The engineers solved a difficult task: to improve the standard model with a limited budget – not more than 10,000 Finnish markkas.
In 1986, the manufacturer introduced slight changes such as improved shock absorbers. In 1987, the coupe got an improved carburettor for easier engine start at low ambient temperatures. The last car of this model was built on July, 1st, 1987 and was sent to the museum of the brand.
The features of Saab 90
The dimensions of the cars were the following: the length was 4580, the width was 1689, the height was 1420 mm. Both axles were fitted with brake discs. The exterior was minimalistic: the trapezoidal radiator grille was decorated with a neat chrome rim and horizontal silver lines adorned the black bumpers.
For some markets, vehicles were equipped with a headlamp washer and heated seats as standard. A sunroof was available as an optional extra. In some Scandinavian countries, cars were sold with minimum equipment, for example, they didn’t have a rev counter. Despite that, the car was marketed as a reliable vehicle for use in cold climes.
