Th!nk Nordic AS is a Norwegian brand that has been producing vehicles since 1991. Assembling was carried out in Aurskog-Høland, Norway, and in Uusikaupunki, Finland. 120 electric car prototypes were created by 1999. Then the company became property of Ford Motor, and the mass production of electric vehicles began. Since 2003 a British holding company Kamkorp Limited owned the factory, since 2006 – a Norwegian investment groupe InSpire. In 2011 the company filed for bankruptcy.

Th!nk cars

The model range included small passenger cars equipped with an electric motor. 3- and 5-door hatchbacks City were the most popular. They were sold in Norway, the Netherlands, Spain, France, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Great Britain, the USA. By 2010 there were about 2 500 copies assembled.

Th!nk cars advantages

• Eco-friendliness. The cars didn’t pollute the atmosphere with harmful emissions. Moreover, recycled materials were used to build these vehicles.
• Large driving distance. The manufacturer mounted high-quality natrium and lithium-ion batteries thanks to which vehicles could cover up to 160 km distance without recharging. Batteries service life is 5 years or 100,000 operational km: they didn’t require maintenance and were to be recycled.
• Efficiency. Car maintenance expenses are 70% lower in comparison with a car with a petrol engine. Moreover, there are different bonuses for owners of electric cars in some European countries, for example, free parking.
• Ease of maintenance. The cars had aluminium or steel chassis and a solid-cast frame made of ABS plastics. The car was characterized by resistance to mechanical damages. If scratches appeared, they could be easily removed by heat treatment. Moreover, electric cars construction didn’t include parts which require often maintenance service.
• High safety level. Th!nk cars successfully passed about 20 crash-tests and over 50 sled tests in different conditions including total submergence in salt water with all electrical systems activated. Vehicles basic trim included front airbags, Isofix fastening system. Moreover, seat belts with pretensioners were included.
