Car parts TALBOT
Talbot vehicles were produced in Europe from 1903 to 1994. The company which used to manufacture them was founded by Frenchman Gustave Adolphe Clément and Englishman Charles Chetwynd-Talbot. Some time later after its establishment, the company divided in two and the brand name was used both for English and French cars produced separately. Afterwards, in 1967, being under a new owner, Chrysler Corporation, the companies reunited and then, being a part of Peugeot, in 1978 resumed manufacturing cars under the brand name Talbot after many years' break.
The Talbot vehicles
The cars of the brand were made in France, Great Britain, Spain, Finland and other countries in different years. The same plants manufactured Talbot parts as well. As, at different times, the company belonged to many large corporations which owned various brands, the car of the marque has numerous twins among the models Fiat, Citroën, Peugeot, Chrysler, Simca, Dodge, Plymouth and others.
The model range of the marque includes both passenger cars and commercial vehicles. The body styles offered for buyers to choose from were three- and five-door hatchbacks, five-door estate cars, coupes, saloons, convertibles, three-door SUVs and vans as well. In 1981, the tuning company Pininfarina created a convertible based on the Samba model, which was the smallest serial car with an open style of the body by that time.
Advantages of the Talbot vehicles
- High-quality assembly. The chassis of these cars are resistant to breaking down even after being used for many years if consumables are timely replaced. The suspension effectively dampens vibrations when travelling at high speed. Qualitative sound insulation provides both a driver and passengers with acoustic comfort.
- A wide range of options. By 1980 some models of the marque had already been equipped with power windows, cast wheels, disc brakes, headlight washers, and onboard computer.
- Comfortable cabin. The cars were quite spacious and seats were comfortable to sit on. Wide windscreen improved the visibility. Velvet and tweed fabrics could be used for interior upholstery.
- Innovations. One of the most famous cars of the brand – Matra Rancho — influenced greatly the establishment of a class of crossovers which were new to Europe at that time. The car was front-wheel drive and had a light but durable body made from fibreglass. An additional row of seats could be installed in that spacious cabin.
