Production of Mazda RX-8 cars started in 2003 and continued to 2012. Assembling was performed in Japan. The model received many international awards. For example, in 2003 it was awarded “International Engine of the Year” and “Japanese Car of the Year” titles. The same year American “Grassroots Motorsports” magazine gave it their “Editors' Choice Award”. In 2004 the car won “Singapore Car of the Year” and “U.S. Best Sports Car” titles.

The model has one generation which was launched in 2003 and got SE3P index. These cars were produced in coupe version and had compact rear doors of unusual construction. They lacked traditional outer handles and could be opened only from the inside together with front doors. Such additional options were available for this car as power side mirrors, anti-skid regulation, cruise control, dynamic stability control system (DSC), climate control.

The manufacturer presented several configurations of Mazda RX-8 coupe among which Revolution Reloaded, produced in 2006, stands out. Its main feature were chromed 18-inch wheel rims. Beige alcantara was used in cabin trimming.

Kuro cars were produced in limited series in 2007. They had black leather interior trimming, Bose audio system, heated seats, electrical adjustment of the driver’s seat, eight airbags. In 2008 restyling was performed and in 2012 the model was discontinued.

Features of restyled Mazda RX-8 SE3P

The renewed car debuted at the North American International Auto Show. Among changes to the RX-8 coupe exterior a bigger radiator grille and square fog lights underlined by stylish chromed planks.

If before turn indicator repeaters were near the headlights, as a part of restyling they were moved closer to the doors. Moreover, these optical elements turned from square into triangular ones. The restyled car is easily distinguished from the predecessor due to absence of air inlets near the wheel arches.

Construction of seats in RX-8 was changed to make rear part of the cabin more spacious. The suspension was improved, due to which noise and vibration level during car exploitation was decreased. Rain sensors and keyless engine start system are among car’s advantages as well.
