Mazda 2 cars are produced since 2003 till present in Japan. Production of first generation cars was also performed in Spain. In 2014 the car got “Golden Steering Wheel” award from “Bild am Sonntag” and “Auto Bild” magazines. Also, the car was awarded “Japan Car of the Year” title in 2014–2015. History of Mazda 2 cars

This car has three generations and two restyled versions. The first generation, launched in 2003 under DY index, was available in a 5-door hatchback body style. It is worth noting that the car resembled a minivan because of atypically high cabin and specific body shape. Mazda 2 hatchback height was 1530 mm, length – 3952 mm, and width – 1680 mm.

The DE generation started in 2007 and was still presented by 5-door hatchbacks. Production of 3-door cars started in 2008. Moreover, sedans were offered for the Chinese market, they went on sale in 2008 as well.

Visually DE generation had nothing in common with minivans, unlike the predecessor. First of all this was because of altered rear body part and smooth lines, prevailing in the exterior. Backside of the newcomer was easily recognizable due to wing-shaped lights and brake light repeater located in the upper part of the luggage compartment door.

The hatchback became shorter, wider and lower than before. Car’s length was 3885 mm, width – 1695 mm, and height – 1475 mm. Cars were equipped with ABS, electric power steering, electronic brake force distribution system and six airbags as standard.

The new car was presented in 2014 at the Paris Motor Show. The third generation of the model got DJ index, and is produced now. In Europe only 5-door Mazda 2 hatchbacks are sold officially. Sedans are also exported to markets of some Asian countries since 2015.

Also, the manufacturer equips the cars with emergency braking warning system, tyre pressure control, dynamic stability control and traction control systems.

Extended configurations include leather-trimmed steering wheel, height adjustable front passenger seat, cruise control. The climate control is offered optionally.
