Borgward is a German car brand that operated from 1939 to 1961. The manufacturing company was founded in Bremen by an engineer Carl Borgward. In 1950s the enterprise became the 4th largest German car manufacturer. In 2015 in Stuttgart the company was revived by the founder’s grandson Christian. The rights for the trademark were bought by a Chinese corporation Beiqi Foton Motor Co. Ltd.

The brand’s model range included passenger cars in body versions of saloon, estate car, coupe, convertible, pickup, van, SUV. Also buses, trucks of conventional and cabover configuration. Trucks were mostly represented by dropside trucks. After company’s production restarting in 2015, the brand produces crossovers.

- Stylish design. Passenger cars of 50 – 60s of the XX century looked spectacular, particularly, due to elongated bonnet with round headlights and chromed radiator grille with a large diamond-shaped logo.
- Spacious interior. There was much space inside the car despite relatively compact sizes. So, the Hansa 1500 sedan produced in 1949 could seat up to 6 people.
- Innovative solutions. Borgward cars were Germany's first vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission. And the P 100 model of 1959 was the first saloon produced in Germany which was equipped with pneumatic suspension. The system included an air bellow on each wheel for improving the road-holding ability when maneuvering.
- Ease of maintenance. The brand’s classic cars were characterized by a simple design and required no expensive repair in case of breakdown. They were widely used as taxi and patrol cars of Bremen police service.
