To show car parts for your particular car, we need more information

A pneumatic drill is necessary for boring holes in car parts made from different materials. These tools run by compressed air supplied by an air compressor and allow to carry out works without spending much time and effort.

Types of pneumatic drills

By the type of the body:

  • Straight. Have a cylindrical shape, not fitted with a handle. Used mainly for boring holes vertically downwards when assembling various small units.
  • Angle. Ideal for the works carried out in limited space: for instance, under the bonnet. They allow to drill even in hard-to-reach places as the operating element is located at an angle to the tool body.
  • Pistol-grip. These are the most popular as they are fitted with a comfortable grip. Effective both for horizontal and vertical drilling. Due to their design, aren’t always suitable for working in hard-to-reach places.

When placing an order online, pay attention to the following specifications:

  • The type of the chuck: keyless or keyed. The first ones are easier to use, do not require any additional tools, the second ones need a chuck key. The keyed ones are considered to be more reliable, especially in case of high loads.
  • Air consumption (flow rate). Modern online shops offer tools that consume 110, 160, 280 litres per minute, etc. The higher this parameter, the higher its power.
  • No load speed. There are products with the following numbers of revolutions, available for sale:
    • from 100 to 800 rpm for high-strength steel;
    • from 800 to 2600 rpm for plastic;
    • over 2600 rpm for aluminium, copper and other soft metals.

Manufacturers’ catalogues offer reversible tools that allow the drill bit to rotate in both directions, and fitted with speed control.

Pneumatic drills: tips on using

  1. Make sure that the drill bit fits both by size and shape.
  2. Lubricate the drill regularly in order to prevent overheating of the friction parts.
  3. Do not use any agents containing chlorine, petrol or solvents for cleaning.
  4. Do not switch on the device if there are any mechanical damages on it. Check whether the attachments are secure.
  5. Keep the tool in a dry ventilated room at the temperature above +5 °С and at the relative humidity of no more than 70%.
