The SEAT Toledo vehicles have been manufactured since 1991 up to the present moment. Earlier the production was carried out in Belgium but today – in the Czech Republic. In 1999, the car was recognized as the best one in its segment according to the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport. In 2012, the model received the highest rating in the Euro-NCAP crash tests. Its twin is Škoda Rapid, as well as Volkswagen Santana and Volkswagen Jetta.
The history of Seat Toledo
They produced four generations and two facelifts of the model. The first generation, the 1L, was built with the five-door hatchback body-style. Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro took part in the development of the exterior and interior. The vehicle had narrow headlights and it was possible to install a rear spoiler. At first, the compact radiator grille was divided into two segments but after the facelift of 1995, it became one-piece. Small mouldings encircled the body.
The 1M generation appeared in 1998. It was available with the saloon body-style. With the launch of the third generation, the 5P, in 2004 the manufacturer reverted to five-door hatchbacks again. Italian designer Walter de Silva took part in its development. An unusual solution was to hide windscreen wipers in A-pillars: when they were off, they were almost invisible. The vehicles no longer had mouldings, the body sides were adorned with elegantly sculpted elements, and the compact trapezoidal radiator grille received a chrome frame. Customers were offered a multifunction steering wheel, parking sensors, infotainment system with a sat nav. The production ended in 2009.
The features of SEAT Toledo (the KG)
The fourth generation of the model was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012. As before, five-door liftbacks are offered. As for the exterior, the headlamps became polygonal and began using LEDs. The front part was decorated with black air intakes with large cells.
The range of equipment became wider. For example, available optional extras include High Beam Assist that switches headlights between main and dipped beam automatically when oncoming vehicles are detected. Besides, there is driver fatigue detection, emergency braking assist, vehicle safety distance warning system. Parking sensors, heated rear-view mirrors, a reversing camera, cruise control were available as optional extras. In 2015, the vehicles were facelifted.
