The SEAT Ibiza model has been produced in Spain since 1984 until present. In 2017, it received the Red Dot award in the Product Design category from the German Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen. In 2018, the vehicle was named the Best Car of the Year by the Spanish magazine ABC. The same year, the British magazine WhatCar? chose this car as the Best Small Car. Nanjing Yuejin Soyat and Volkswagen Polo Playa are twin models of the car.

The history of SEAT Ibiza

The manufacturer released five generations and six facelifts over the years. The 021А generation was produced from 1984 until 1993 as three- and five-door hatchbacks. Their appearance was developed by Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. The exterior was typical for that period: huge black bumpers, almost square headlights, radiator grille with large horizontal bars.

The 6K generation, which appeared in 1993, featured a streamlined body, trapezoidal radiator grille and roof spoiler. The automobile’s drag coefficient was just 0.33. After the 1996 facelift, the headlights became almost oval, the radiator grille was divided into three sections and the bonnet received two sculptured lines. Higher trim levels included power windows and air conditioning system.

In 2002–2008, came the 6L generation which was designed in association with Italian designer Walter de Silva. The bonnet had convex sides and the headlights were a visual extension of the grille sections. The car body was fitted with mouldings. The updated cars of 2006 featured a large air intake in the front bumper. Power steering and anti-lock braking system became available.

The 6J generation, introduced at the Paris Motor Show in 2008, was marked by the appearance of the SEAT Ibiza estate car. The interior and exterior of these cars were developed by Belgian designer Luc Donckerwolke. He is famous for taking part in the creation of several Lamborghini supercars, namely Murcielago and Gallardo. The 6J vehicles had a streamlined silhouette, narrow headlights were fitted closely to the edge of the bonnet, the air intake in the bumper became larger and got three sections. LED daytime running lights and parking sensors have been available since 2015.

The features of the SEAT Ibiza 6F

The 6F generation was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2017. Today only five-door hatchbacks are manufactured. The car body features a lot of sculpted lines that highlight the dynamism of the car. The headlights are almost triangular and come with halogen bulbs as standard. They are framed by lines of LED daytime running lights.

These cars are equipped with cruise control, rear parking sensors, electronic stability programme, emergency braking assist and driver fatigue detection. Besides, they offer an infotainment system with a sat nav and an 8-inch touchscreen, rear-view camera as well as Hill Hold Control, which makes climbing up a hill easier.
