RENAULT MEGANE reviews and experiences
The production of the Renault Megane vehicles started in 1995 and is still going on. They are manufactured in Spain and Turkey. They used to be assembled in France, Belgium, Argentina, Colombia, Indonesia, Brazil, Iran and Taiwan. In 2003, the model was voted European Car of the Year.
The History of the Renault Megane vehicles
Up to today, there have been four generations and three facelifted versions of the model made. The first generation offered Renault Megane five-door estate cars, five-door hatchbacks, saloons, convertibles. The manufacturer claimed a high level of safety, the effective braking system, in particular, to be one of the main advantages of these vehicles. In 1999, the cars were facelifted. They not only gained a modern look but also became more comfortable. There was a sport version called Maxi.
In the second generation introduced in 2002, a three-door hatchback was added to the range of body styles. Moreover, there were two sport versions RS and GT as well. The latter had a torque of 340 N·m, streamline bumpers and a double exhaust system. The cars of the second generation underwent the facelift in 2006.
The vehicles of the third generation that appeared in 2008 were characterised by larger dimensions. Thus, a new five-door hatchback was 4,295 mm long, 1,808 mm wide and 1,471 mm high which is 86 mm, 31 mm and 13 mm correspondingly more than its predecessor has. This generation has the largest number of sport versions: RS, GT and GT Line. In 2010, the rapid-deployment brigade of the French police got three-door hatchbacks RS. The cars had 275 hp and the top speed of 255 km/h. In 2014, the cars of the third generation were greatly updated.
Features of the Renault Megane vehicles (generation IV)
Five-door hatchbacks of the latest generation unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2015 went on sale at the beginning of 2016 and are still being produced. The five-door Megane estate car was presented at the Geneva Motor Show the same year. Some months later the line was completed with the saloon.
The exterior of the Renault Megane vehicle of the fourth generation was elaborated by Franck Le Gall. The unusual shape of the headlights with the Pure Vision LED lights makes this car look not like the others. The vehicle is fitted with the Multi-Sense system, unique for its class which allows to choose one of five driving modes. This way you can customise the engine response to the accelerator pedal, suspension settings, the intensity of the massage provided by the driver's seat, cabin lighting and other settings. The interesting solution which was borrowed from aviation is a retractable display which shows the readings of the speedometer, navigator, information about road signs and other important information for the driver. The Easy Park Assist is a very convenient system which makes parking much easier.
The RS sports version of the fourth generation is due to debut in the second half of 2017. These cars are supposed to be equipped with engines with the capacity of more than 300 hp.
