RENAULT SCÉNIC reviews and experiences
The Renault Scenic multi-purpose vehicle has been manufactured since 1996 till the present time. The production of these people carriers is carried out in France. In 1997, this vehicle won the World Car of the Year competition. In 2009, this minivan was honoured with the “Golden Steering Wheel” award in the MPV category. This prestigious prize is given by authoritative German periodicals Bild am Sonntag and Auto Bild.
The History of the Renault Scenic vehicles
The model is represented by 4 generations and 4 facelifted versions. The first generation entered the production in 1996. The new car was marketed as a family car. The main feature of this MPV is its excellent manoeuvrability which made it ideal for driving in cities. Moreover, the rear seats could be easily folded which made the luggage compartment capacity increase up to 1800 l. The success of the new vehicle exceeded the manufacturer's expectations. 450 cars were supposed to roll off the assembly line every day, however, eventually, in order to meet the market demand, they had to produce almost 2500 units a day.
The second generation of the Renault Scenic debuted in 2003. The new features of the vehicle included an immobiliser which, instead of a key, required a special device that resembled a card. Moreover, some versions were fitted with an electric park brake with an automatic switching system. There was a 7-seat version called Grand with a longer wheelbase.
In 2009, the third generation was available. The new car was a best-seller in France from 2013 to 2015. Its suspension was equipped with extra-stiff springs. This allowed to improve the vehicle's stability while manoeuvring. Since 2016, the fourth generation has been produced.
Features of the Renault Scenic vehicles (generation IV)
The new version debuted at the Geneva Motor Show. The appearance of the car has a more expressive look. Thus, the teardrop-shaped headlights were replaced by angular ones. The design of the radiator grille has changed and the bumper grille can be visually divided into three parts. The fog lights with new frames are placed on the sides. You can immediately recognise Renault Scenic vehicles by their tail lights of an unusual shape which are now located horizontally.
It is comfortable to travel even long distances in the new car thanks to the adjustable driver’s and passenger’s seats. The Bose Edition package features a driver’s seat with the massage function and support for back and hips. The Initiale Paris package offers such a seat not only for the driver but for the front passenger as well. The panoramic roof which could be added to the Intens trim provides perfect lighting in the cabin.
The standard equipment of the base trim includes LED daytime running lights, speed limiter, emergency brake assist. Other versions of the Scenic MPV have a wider range of useful options. For example, the Intens features the R-Link 2 multimedia system with the function of smartphone integration via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There is also available a MULTI-SENSE system which allows to adjust the engine responsiveness, steering sensitivity and others.
