The Audi 100 cars were being produced from 1968 to 1994. The assembly was performed in Germany, South Africa, Nigeria, China, Japan in different years. In 1983, the model was recognised as the European Car of the Year, it overhauled such a rival as Ford Sierra. The similar model of the car of the third generation is Xiao Hongqi.
The History of the Audi 100
During the time of the existence of the model, 4 generations and the first three of them were facelifted. At the time of creation of the first generation, the C1 was the largest model in the brand range.
The appearance of the model 100 of the second generation, the C2, bears the traces of resemblance to the NSU Ro 80, the car which was very popular at that time. However, the most prominent generation is the C3. Its main feature was the lowest ever drag coefficient for that moment. It was just 0.30. This became possible thanks to innovative streamlined bodywork and the use of "flush windows" technology. The fourth generation, the C4, was the last one in the history of the model and became the predecessor of the Audi A6.
The Features of the Audi 100 (C4)

In case of frontal collision, the engine is shifted and due to this, the steering column is pulled towards the front of the car which reduces the risk of the driver getting a head injury. The seat belts are tensioned as well.
