The Audi A5 cars entered the mass production in 2007 and are still being manufactured. The assembly is carried out in Germany. In 2010, the coupe of this model received the award for the best design in Germany (Designpreis der Bundesrepublik Deutschland).
The History of the Audi A5
The first generation of the Audi A5 coupe, the 8T, was unveiled at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. The designer solutions elaborated for the Audi Nuvolari Coupe concept car were used to make this vehicle. The convertibles of the first generation, the 8F, had a soft top, not quite typical for the trends of that period. The appearance of the F5, the second generation, has much in common with the Audi A4. The design of the new A5 was elaborated by Marc Lichte.
The Features of the Audi A5 (F5)
The coupe of the second generation was introduced to the public in Ingolstadt. The new A5 liftback debuted at the Paris Auto Show (Mondial de l'Automobile). The exterior changes that should be noted are the updated lights and grille. The standard base includes LED rear lights. As an optional extra, there are available Matrix LED Headlights.
Thanks to the extended wheelbase, there is more space in the new car’s passenger compartment than in the previous version. In particular, there is more leg space for the passengers travelling on the rear seats. There are also heated front seats available. The climate control makes the car even more comfortable.
There is a great number of useful optional extras. For example, you can order the MMI Navigation plus system, the Audi virtual cockpit dashboard, the Bang & Olufsen Sound System with the 3D audio effect and many others. At present, the cars of this generation are available with the coupé, liftback and convertible body styles.
