AUDI TT reviews and experiences
The Audi TT is one of the most popular vehicles made by the German company which has been produced since 1998 until present time. The model is manufactured in Hungary. The available body styles are coupé and roadster. The car was honoured with Design Innovation of the Year Award at the Automotive Brand Contest 2014.
The History of the Audi TT
The model was first shown as a concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1995. The exterior was developed by the company’s leading designers: J Mays, Thomas Freeman, Martin Smith. However, the mass production of the model was postponed until 1998: the car features needed adapting to the innovative technology of laser beam welding which hadn’t been used earlier. Overall, by 2014 two generations of the model and two facelifts had been made. At present, 8S is being produced, which is the third generation of the representative of this model ranges, whose debut was at the Geneva Motor Show in 2014.
The Features of the Audi TT (8S)
In order to draw attention to their new product, in November 2014, at the Interieur design fair in Kortrijk, Belgium, the Audi company together with Belgium confectionery manufacturer Joost Arijs introduced the 8S coupé fully covered with colourful chocolates. It took 27,000 chocolates to cover the whole car body.
The body of the updated TT, the8S, has even more aluminium, due to which the weight was reduced by 50–90 kg depending on the version and driving performance was enhanced. The sharp lines dominating in the front match the streamlined roof and sides. Narrow and angle lights, chrome exhaust pipes, a hexagonal radiator grille, wide wheel arches and a spoiler deploying at the speed above 120 kph give dynamics to the exterior highlighting the sports character of the car. Door handles and wing mirror covers are painted the same colour as the car body. The interior is simple but elegant. Seats provide excellent side support and have a great number of adjustable positions: you can adjust not only the back or headrest but side bolsters as well. The instrument panel is a 12.3-inch diagonal digital display. In standard mode, speedometer and rev counter are displayed. By changing the interface, you can switch to the customary mode and use navigation or multimedia services. Many functions are controlled with the help of steering wheel buttons, a special knob on the centre console or using voice commands.
The base trim of the Audi TT, the 8S, cars include xenon headlights but there are optional Audi Matrix headlights which use the system of lenses and reflectors as well as a great number of LEDs to produce a high beam. They can grow dimmer or brighter depending on the traffic conditions. The car can be also noted for its leather seats and interior trim, 17-inch alloy discs, tinted windows, active suspension and other useful options.
