Opel Frontera SUV was produced by General Motors company in 1991–2004 period in Great Britain. The twin-models of the car were same-named model of Vauxhall, and Isuzu MU, Isuzu Rodeo, Honda Passport and Landwind X6.
History of Opel Frontera cars
There are two generations and two restyled versions of this model. Opel FronteraAcars were equipped with leaf-spring rear suspension, front disc brakes and drum rear ones. The distinctive feature was canted rear body part, which was untypical for SUVs of that time. Car dimensions were impressive: length – 4207 mm, width – 1780 mm, height – 1698 mm.
In the first generation the manufacturer presented 3-door and 5-door SUV. There were also modifications with soft foldable roof, and with turbo diesel engine of 2.5L displacement and 115 hp power. Modifications with long wheelbase were offered apart from standard size cars. The SUV with extended body was also available: its length was 4671 mm at the same width and height.
The leaf-spring suspension of Opel Frontera was replaced with the spring one during restyling of 1995 and the lower part of the rear door started opening sidewards. A spare wheel was mounted on it, thus increasing useful space of the luggage compartment.
The second generation appeared in September, 1998. V6 Isuzu power unit of 3.2L displacement was added to the engine list. The car body was significantly enlarged. Modification with standard wheelbase became bigger by 119 mm in length, by 6 mm in height and by 8 mm in width. Car production ended in 2003, but the cars were produced in Great Britain up to 2004.
Features of restyled Opel Frontera B cars
Restyling of the second generation took place in 2001. The headlights became completely transparent, and the side windows more round. Car body was decorated with bulging double line.
Frontera SUV was equipped with the air-conditioner, power windows and electrically adjustable mirrors in basic configuration. Luggage compartment volume can be increased due to folding rear seats.
