RENAULT TWINGO reviews and experiences
Renault Twingo is a compact city car whose production started in 1993 and is still going on. The latest generation of this model is made in Slovenia. Earlier, the assembly was carried out in France, Colombia, Spain and Uruguay. In 2011, the model received the Parkers' New Car Awards as “the best city car”. This competition is organised by a specialised edition of Parker's Car Price Guide.
The History of the Renault Twingo vehicles
The car is represented by 3 generations and 4 facelifted versions. The first generation debuted at the Paris Motor Show in 1992 and its production started in 1993. The model drew people’s attention with its unusual exterior. The front part of the body was associated with a frog because of the shape and location of the headlights. Sloped windscreen glass and compact door handles made the car look neat and smart. The length of the three-door hatchback was 3433 mm, its width was 1630 mm and its height was 1423 mm.
The second generation of the Renault Twingo vehicles has been produced since 2007. In 2013, the car was one of the ten top-selling vehicles in France. Moreover, it was the only one representative of its class listed there. The car became larger. It was 3600 mm long, 1650 mm wide and 1470 mm high. The exterior of the car changed greatly as well. Round headlights were replaced by stylish long almond-shaped lights. Moreover, the radiator grille turned into a thin line while the bumper grille became massive and nominally divided into three segments.
The third generation of the model has been manufactured since 2014 until the present moment. The new version became the top-selling car of its class in France in 2015.
Features of the Renault Twingo vehicles (generation lll)
The renewed car was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, March 4, 2014. The Renault Twingo hatchback of the third generation has five doors while its predecessor had three. The length of the vehicle decreased by 92 mm, its width became 7mm less; however, it became 87 mm higher.
The headlights became round and the radiator grille was made in the shape of large cells. Unusual running lights placed separately on the front bumper catch the eye. Its grille started to look more laconic.
The sides of the updated version are decorated with black mouldings. It should be noted that the five-door Twingo hatchback might be easily confused with the three-door one. That can be explained by an interesting stylish solution: door handles are almost unnoticeable because they are located higher than usual, near the window.
The base trim of the car has four airbags, ESP, hill-start assist, speed limiter. As optional extras, some trims might include a Parking Assist System as well as Lane Keeping Warner which informs the driver that the car left the chosen lane.
The manufacturer did everything to make the trip not only pleasant but safe as well. For example, the standard equipment of the Limited Package includes the R & GO sound system. Thanks to the electric sunroof, you can enjoy sunlight inside the car.
