History of Lexus SC cars

Totally, there were presented two generations and two restyled versions of the model. The first generation of Lexus SC cars, Z30, was produced in coupe version and equipped with rear-wheel drive. The drag coefficient was only 0.31. 

In 1997 the car underwent restyling. The narrow radiator grille appeared between its headlights, and the bumper grille was trimmed with chromed horizontal stripe. The round fog lights became bigger, and the housings where they were located, lost the trimming bars.

Presentation of Z40 generation in the convertible body style took place on Paris Motor Show in 2001. These cars were equipped with the hard aluminium roof which could be folded in 25 seconds, and 18-inch alloy wheel rims. Natural leather was used for interior trimming. Equipment of extended trim levels of SC included the Mark Levinson sound system, navigation system, and headlights washers. The anti-lock braking system with brake force distribution, stability control and emergency braking assist systems, traction control were amongst safety systems of the cabriolet. The vehicle was equipped with power steering.

Features of restyled Lexus SC Z40

The restyled car of Z40 generation came into the market in 2005. The front and rear lights of SC cabriolet got a new configuration, and the alloy wheel rims were made in a new style. Quantity of trimming bars in the fog light frames reduced from four to one.

The cars were well equipped in terms of safety. Particularly, their standard equipment included the dynamic stability control system and anti-slip regulation system. Also the basic trim level featured front and side airbags.

Sportive modification of the car won Super GT race in 2006. The model participated in the competition for vehicles with 500 hp engines.
