Production of Lexus GS cars has started in 1993 and still continues in Japan. In 1998 the car won prestigious “Import Car of the Year” prize from reputable “Motor Trend” magazine. History of Lexus GS

Today there are four generations and three restyled versions of the model presented. The cars were released in body versions of saloon and provided with rear- or all-wheel drive. The first GS generation, S140, came to the European market in 1993. Standard equipment of the car included the automatic air-conditioner and Nakamichi audio-system. Also, front airbags, cruise-control were included in basic trim level. The traction control system, seats heating, roof hatch and CD-player were available for an additional charge.

S160 generation was presented in 1997. The dashboard of the new car was then provided with Optitron electroluminescent lighting. Some trim levels of this car included the stability control system. Moreover, the manufacturer managed to improve value of car drag coefficient.

S190 generation was presented at North American Motor Show in Detroit in 2005. They started to equip the cars with the integrated dynamics control system and electric power steering. Some trim levels had adaptive suspension. Standard equipment included keyless entry system SmartAccess, LED lighting of the passenger compartment, multimedia system with 7-inch touchscreen. The front seats were equipped with heating and function of adjustment memory (Lexus Memory System).

Production of L10 generation started in 2011. The new GS saloon was provided with the brand climate-control system S-FLOW. Systems of blind spot monitor, lane keeping assist, driver attention monitor were offered as additional options.

Features of restyled Lexus GS L10 cars

The fourth generation of the cars underwent restyling in 2015. The renewed saloon got huge radiator grille integrated into the bumper. The forms of the front and rear bumpers became more relief. L-shaped daytime running lights were placed in separate sections below the prolonged headlights. The fog lights are made in the shape of vertically mounted rectangles in large frames. The LED rear lights got new configuration.

The interior of Lexus GS saloon has ambient LED lighting. The comfortable front seats are provided with electric adjustment and function of settings memory, and have bolsters of shoulder and side support in expensive trim level. Standard equipment includes: the on-board computer, multimedia system with 8-inch screen, acoustic system with 12 speakers, rear view camera. The multifunctional 12.3-inch display, audio-system Mark Levinson with 17 speakers, satellite navigation system were offered in top trim level.

The basic equipment, providing car safety, includes 10 airbags, adaptive cruise-control, Lane Keeping Assist, road signs recognition, traction control (TRC). The front and rear parking sensors are included in extended trim levels.
