What are rubber-metal engine and transmission mounts?
Rubber-metal engine and transmission mounts are designed for mounting these units to the car body and subframe. They have a damping effect and can be made in the form of two metal plates with a rubber pad in between. Sometimes the rubber element is enclosed in a metal housing, like a bush. It can also be press-fitted into a bracket. The main advantages of these parts are the low cost, reliability and simple design. The disadvantage is that the maximum damping efficiency is only achieved in case of shocks and jolts of a certain intensity. In other words, products that are too stiff are not capable of absorbing minor vibrations, which affects the driving comfort.
