A British pop culture icon, the Mini Cooper is loved by many for its instantly recognisable sleek yet functional design, its versatility and high fuel efficiency. One key advantage of the model is that it is known for having a high resale value, provided that the car is kept in great condition. Mini Cooper: common problems
Diesel problems
A number of Mini Cooper owners have reported problems with their diesel engine. Some diesel-powered Minis manufactured between 3 March 2014 and 17 March 2017 are fitted with an EGR valve that is susceptible to leaks. These leaks can significantly affect the performance of the engine and increase emissions and fuel consumption. This also poses a fire risk.
