What are power windows?
Power windows consist of a lifting mechanism containing a rack, a set of links or cables, as well as an actuator in the form of a worm gear motor. The mechanism is operated by pressing the button in the passenger compartment, which is very convenient since it allows the driver to open or close the window without being distracted from the road for long. But the main advantage is the opportunity for implementing additional functions, such as automatic closing of windows when the rain sensor is triggered, or lowering of the window when a frameless door is opened. These kinds of windows are more expensive than manual ones, but at the same time are also less reliable: if the electrical wiring burns out or the motor fails, it becomes impossible to lower or raise the window.
