Suzuki Ignis cars were produced from 2000 to 2008 in Japan, Hungary, China, Thailand, India, Taiwan. In 2016 assembling was restarted in India and Japan. The model was sold under Swift name on the Japanese market and was also called Chevrolet Cruze. In Australia it was available as Holden Cruze, in European countries – as Subaru G3X Justy. In 2005 the car won Audience Award in “Car of the Year Japan” contest. And in 2006 the car was awarded “RJC Car of the Year” title.
History of Suzuki Ignis cars
Three model generations are presented today. Presentation of the first generation, FH/HT51S, took place on Paris Motor Show in 2000. The car was produced in 3- and 5-doors hatchback body versions. Front-wheel and all-wheel drive modifications were available. Ignis was popular due to efficient fuel consumption and spacious cabin. In Japan the car was used as a police vehicle.
A special Sport modification, equipped with 110 hp engine, was produced on the basis of 3-door hatchback. These cars had the spoiler on the rear roof part, 15-inch aluminium wheel rims, leather gear lever and steering wheel.
HR51S generation cars were created from 2003 to 2008. The manufacturer enhanced body rigidity which positively affected car handling. Moreover, the model looked more modern due to new headlights located vertically. The radiator grille was decorated with a horizontal decorative bar with the brand emblem, and the front bumper became more massive. Top Ignis hatchback configuration included water-repellent seat upholstery, automatic air-conditioner and power side view mirrors.
Features of Suzuki Ignis FF21S
Presentation of FF21S generation took place on Paris Motor Show in 2016. The manufacturer presented the crossover with completely new extraordinary exterior. Special attention should be paid to headlights in the form of semicircle integrated into the wide radiator grille which is decorated with 2 bars and the large brand logo. The bumper grille is divided into 3 sections, and round fog lights in chromed frames are placed on the sides of it. Car extended configurations included roof railings on the roof and 16-inch light alloy wheel rims.
Suzuki Ignis crossover has front power windows, multifunctional steering wheel is height-adjusted, and a screen is built in the dashboard. The cars were basically equipped with the audio system and radio. Extended trim packages include CD and MP3 support.
The cars are basically equipped with 6 airbags, Isofix fastenings for a child seat. Basic trim package provides ABS with brake force distribution, stability control system and tyre pressure control system. Top configuration included Dual Camera Brake Support (DCBS), and lane keeping assist and driver fatigue detection system. The model passed Euro NCAP crash test and got maximum 5 stars.
