PEUGEOT 206 reviews and experiences
The production of Peugeot 206 vehicles was carried out from 1998 to 2013. These cars were made in France, Argentina, Brazil, Iran and other countries. In 1998, this car was recognised as the most beautiful vehicle at the International Motor Show. In 2001, the convertible of this model received the title “Car of the Show” at the British International Motor Show. The same year, it was honoured with the “Best Convertible” Award from the magazine “What Car?”. Moreover, this was the top-selling model of all cars from this brand. The twin models are the same-name Naza and Citroen C2.
The history of the Peugeot 206 vehicles
There are two generations and one restyled version of this model. Initially, the first generation manufactured since 1998, was represented by three-door and five-door hatchbacks. Since 2000, the cabriolet CC became available. In 2002, the Peugeot station wagon (the 206 SW) was unveiled. The success of the first generation became possible mainly due to a good price/quality ratio of the car, as well as to its trendy design.
In 2003, the cars were restyled. As for the exterior, the rear lights were renewed, the brand logo was placed higher and was no more on the handle of the tailgate. Moreover, mouldings of the facelifted cabriolet and three-door hatchback were in body colour.
From 2003 to 2005, the RC version was available. At a relatively low price, it was fitted with a great number of attractive features, for example, climate control system and rain sensor. This version had a sporty look thanks to 17-inch alloy wheels and chrome exhaust tips. The RC suspension was fitted with extra-stiff springs, which allowed to manoeuvre confidently. In 2005, the range of body styles was widened with the saloon.
Since 2009, the second generation entered the production under the name 206+. In 2013, the production of these cars was discontinued for the European market. Nevertheless, these vehicles are still being manufactured in Iran. In Europe, these cars were replaced by the 207 model.
Features of the Peugeot 206+
The second generation was represented by three-door and five-door hatchbacks only. The radiator grille became larger and started to look like a smile. Above it, there was the brand logo of a bigger size. The five-door 206 hatchback also gained mouldings which were in body colour. It is easy to recognize the car by its rear lights with round turn signals and reverse lights of an original shape.
For the European market, the standard features of the car included power steering, anti-lock braking system, front and side airbags, and remote central locking kit. In 2011, the standard equipment also included the ESP.
