PEUGEOT BOXER reviews and experiences
The Peugeot Boxer commercial vehicles have been produced since 1994. In Europe, they are assembled at the Sevel Sud factory in Italy. In 1994, the model received a prestigious award “International Van of the Year”. Twin models of this car are Fiat Ducato and Citroen Jumper.
The History of the Peugeot Boxer vehicles
The manufacturer has offered two generations and two facelifted versions of the model so far. The first generation of Boxer, the 230, debuted at the Geneva Motor Show as a van. Apart from that, minibus and chassis cab were also available. The interior and exterior of the cars were created by Giorgetto Giugiaro who was named Car Designer of the Century. The appearance of the vehicle was characterised by minimalism largely due to the narrow rectangular headlights and neat radiator grille.
In 2002, the manufacturer updated the car and made the 244. Wide black mouldings appeared on the sides of the body. The brand logo was in the centre of the radiator grille as before, but became more prominent due to the chrome frame.
The 250, the model of the second generation, debuted in 2006. Versions with a larger body were offered as well. For example, there were Peugeot Boxers with the length of 6208, the height of 2,522 mm and width of 2,025 mm. The cars started to look more modern. The front bumper became more massive, whereas the bonnet lid became narrower. The extended radiator grille was made as a mesh. There were two air vents under the windscreen, and the headlights became larger and horn-shaped.
Features of the Peugeot Boxer (generation II, facelift)
In 2014, the manufacturer introduced the updated second generation, the 290/295. The body of the car has sleeker lines, a wide radiator grille is emphasised by a chrome frame. Daytime running lights (LED lights are optional) are built into the narrow extended head optics. The brand badge has no background and is placed above the radiator grille.
The manufacturer offers a van, a minibus, two- and four-door dropside trucks and chassis cabs. The interior of the vehicle is characterised by an austere design. The passenger compartment of the model is quite spacious. For example, some versions of Boxer minibus have enough room for 17 passengers to sit comfortably.
Depending on the length and height of the car body, the load carrying capacity of the vans can be from 2.8 up to 4 tons, and the load compartment volume reaches 8 m³. Thanks to the adjustable air suspension and low loading height (from 493 to 602 mm), these vehicles are very convenient to use.
The updated model is fitted with a wide range of modern equipment to provide comfortable driving. So, they offer the ESP Dynamic Stability Control, Tyre Deflation Detection System, Active Traction Control, Automatic Headlight Switch. Moreover, the rear-view camera and navigator are also available.
