Citroen C2 is a compact three-door hatchback of the French company PSA Group. It was presented on the market in 2003 for the first time, production continued till 2009. Manufacturing of the model took place in France at the factory in Aulnay-sous-Bois. The car is produced in version of the five-door hatchback since 2006. The French magazine Automobile noted unusual car design and the German magazine Bild am Sonntag awarded the car with “Gold Steering Wheel”.
History of Citroen C2 cars
The car is presented in one generation with the restyled version of 2008. Modification Super 1600 was developed by a special department of the manufacturing company for participation in the rally; this modification took part in several national championships and also in Junior World Rally Championship. Drivers Daniel Sordo and Sébastien Ogier were the first to cross the finish line on this car in 2006 and 2008. Moreover, Challenge (2004 – 2006), R2 (2006) and R2 Max (2008) were developed for national and international championships. It is worth noting that the Citroen C2 hatchback got 4 stars of 5 available in crash-tests according to EuroNCAP system.
Features of restyled MKI Citroen C2
A renewed Citroen was brought into production in 2008 and was manufactured for only one year. Changes affected the front part of the car. So, Citroen C2 cars got a convex bonnet and a renewed radiator grille. Moreover, the range of available engines expanded to 7, and 4 versions of interior upholstery were offered at option.
The car in its standard configuration, LX, was notable for minimum equipment; particularly there were no fog lights. Configuration L in which the model was manufactured from 2003 till 2005, featured a music player, power windows, and fog lights. The configuration with the maximum features, SX, included an air-conditioner, for example.
3 main configurations of C2 hatchback were presented: Furio, VTR and VTS. Except standard features, Furio was equipped with side airbags and the improved seat transformation system. The car of VTR configuration included fog lights, steering wheel leather trimming, power side mirrors, electric power steering, rear spoiler. VTS differed by presence of ESP and 16-inch wheels.
The luggage compartment door consisted of 2 leaves – upper and lower. It was designed so that you can open only the upper part if necessary. Setup of rear passenger seats was also unusual: not only 2 separate seats were installed in the car, they had lengthways adjustment and seat back tilt function.
