Is the front bumper for the Volkswagen Phaeton more expensive than the rear one?
These components cost about the same. The price of the rear one might be slightly higher.
How much time does it take to change the part?
It depends on your skills and whether someone helps you or not. On average, the job takes from 1 to 3 hours.
Is a bumper for the Volkswagen Phaeton 5.0 V10 TDI 4motion (2002) compatible with my Volkswagen Phaeton 3.6 V6 4motion (2011)?
The parts of the vehicles mentioned above aren’t interchangeable. The 2010 facelift changed the car exterior so these elements have different shapes and fasteners. Therefore, before buying the component, make sure it is compatible with the version of your vehicle.
How to dismantle and install the front and rear components on this car?
To make working easier, remove the wheels or turn them all the way to one side to gain access to the wheel arches. One by one, undo all the fasteners that secure the component. They can be found:
- under the radiator grille, facing downwards;
- in the fog light holes;
- under the trim covers;
- at the bottom part of the component;
- inside the wheel arches;
- under the wheel arch covers, in the upper corners of the element to be changed;
- behind the wheel arch covers, below the headlights.
If there are headlight washers, you have to raise their covers to the fixed position, unsnap the clips on the edges of the bumper and remove the car part from its guides by pulling it towards yourself. If there are parking sensors and fog lights, unplug their connectors. Install a new component by carrying out these steps in reverse order.
To dismantle the rear component, remove the boot lining and lights, then undo the bumper fasteners. If necessary, take out the battery and the fuse box. Undo the screws and extract the clips from the wheel arches and lower part of the component. Gently remove it from the retainers and guides. Install the new component.
