The history of the trademark Kormoran goes back in 1967 when a new factory Olsztyńskie Zakłady Opon Samochodowych was opened near a Polish city, Olsztyn. Its founder was Władysław Leonhard who had earlier held the position of the company director in Poznańskie Zakłady Przemysłu Gumowego Stomil - one of the first tyre manufacturers in Poland. During the years of its development Olsztyńskie firm changed its name several times: in 1969 it got Stomil and in the beginning of 1990s the company name turned into Stomil-Olsztyn SA. In 1995 the most part of the company shares were acquired by the French corporation Michelin, the company management of which decided to rename it into Michelin Polska SA.

The trademark Kormoran was established in 1994. At present in the aftermarket there is a wide range of auto tyres of the brand for commercial vehicles, passenger cars and trucks, buses and special vehicles. Kormoran tyres are produced in the factories in Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, Hungary and Serbia. The company products are recognized in Europe and abroad, in particular in India and China.
