JAGUAR X-TYPE reviews and experiences
The Jaguar X-Type vehicles were produced between 2001 and 2009 in Halewood, Great Britain. In 2001, the car was honoured with AutoWeek’s Editors Choice Award at the Geneva Motor Show.
History of the Jaguar X-Type vehicles
During the production time, they manufactured one generation and made one facelift. The vehicles had the index Х400. The model was based on the modified version of the Ford CD132 platform also used in Ford Mondeo. At first, the cars were made in the saloon bodystyle and in 2004 the X-Type estate car was launched. The design of the new body was developed by Ian Callum who is famous for working with Ford, TWR and Aston Martin companies.
The model was available in the Le Mans 3.0 V6 version whose sporty nature was emphasised by a small spoiler on the boot lid. This car was also notable for a black radiator grille, 18-inch wheels made from the R-Performance alloy and a special Le-Mans logo on the rear end. The car was fitted with airbags and ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution system.
Features of the Jaguar X-Type generation I cars, facelift
The update of the car debuted in 2007 at the Canary Wharf Motorexpo and the mass production began in 2008. Many elements of the Jaguar X-Type exterior were altered, radiator grille, in particular. Before it was divided in two and filled with black vertical bars, now there was a one-piece fine chromed mesh. It bore an enlarged brand logo. The bumper grille became wider, the design of fog lights changed and wing mirrors had built-in turn signals.
High-quality wood and leather were used to trim the cabin of the X-Type. The colour palette and layout of the instrument panel were also changed as well as the position of the control elements on the multifunction steering wheel. The gear knob which had been round before the facelift, became oblong. Besides, the central console and steering wheel spokes gained a tungsten metallic finish.
Depending on trim level, power windows and mirrors, front and side airbags, parking sensors were among the available options. Besides, higher trim levels could include cruise-control, heated seats, headlight washers, satellite navigation and others.
