Production of Kia Carens minivan started in 1999 and still continues nowadays. At different times car assembling was performed in Malaysia, Russia, Vietnam, Indonesia, South Korea and Taiwan. In North America and Australia the car was sold under Rondo name, and it was available as Naza Citra in Malaysia in 2002–2006. Totally, four generations and one restyled version of these cars were presented. All-wheel drive minivan of the first generation, FC, which was released in 1999, was fuel-efficient and practical, that is why it gained high popularity. Thus, in 2000 the model became one of three top-selling cars in South Korea.
Production of the second generation, FJ, started in 2002. Kia Carens cars were equipped with power windows and air-conditioner. Anti-skid system TCS and four airbags were responsible for safety of the driver and passengers. Extended configuration also included auto auto-dimming cabin mirror, automatic climate control and other options.
The third generation of the model, UN, was presented on International Car Show in Madrid in 2006. The minivan was offered in 5- and 7-seat versions. Extended configurations included the sunroof, leather interior, heating of the front seats, keyless car entry system. In 2010 the model underwent restyling, as a result of which, chromed decorative bars disappeared from the radiator grille, and turn indicators appeared in the outer mirrors.

Premiere of the fourth model generation, RP, took place on Paris Motor Show in 2012. Its stylish interior with sportive accent looks very modern and dynamic. The front car part is decorated with the profiled radiator grille and wide bumper grille, connected with frames of large fog lights by narrow curved grooves. The stylish elongated headlights with built-in LED daytime running lights and deep concave on the body sides make Carens appearance even more streamlined. The large rear lights of the minivan are now mounted horizontally, and small fog lights appeared on the neat rear bumper.
The car is still available in 5- and 7-seat versions. Interior of the car is practical and functional. The folding passenger seats presuppose additional abilities for cargo transportation. In versions with the extended equipment list, the driver seat is available with 10 positions of adjustment and heating function. Also, for extra charge you can equip the car with dual-zone climate control and air ionization function.
Amongst standard functions of basic configuration, the trip computer, cruise control with speed limiter and acoustic system can be pointed out. 7- or 8-inch touchscreen with ability to integrate a smartphone via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are optionally available in extended configurations.

Electronic stability control (ESC), ABS with electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and emergency brake assist (BAS), integrated vehicle stability management (VSM), hill start assist (HAC), and Flex Steer, a system which allows to adjust operation of the steering booster are amongst them.
