Why do windscreen wiper blades on my VW Passat squeak?
The possible culprits of strange sounds heard during operation are:
The working element is worn-out or made from poor-quality materials.
The window is very dirty or covered with tiny scratches.
The fasteners weren’t properly secured during installation.
The attachment has a play or is broken.
If after installing a new component, the squeaky sounds still can be heard, you should check the drive mechanism or the wiper arm bushings. In that case, additional checking must be carried out and it’s better to have mechanics do it.
How often is it necessary to change the components on the vehicles of this model?

Put the metal arm at a right angle to the windscreen. Be careful as it is spring-loaded and can damage the glass.
Detach the blade from the arm by turning it by 90°.
Install a new component. Press the part carefully against the windscreen surface and make sure it fits snugly.
Turn on the ignition and check that the wipers work correctly: they must not interfere with each other or touch the windscreen seal.
