A 5-door hatchback 781 version of the car debuted at Brno International Engineering Fair 1987. Two years later 785 station wagon was presented. Its name was Forman (Estate in Great Britain). The units were constantly improving, thus, in 1992 Bosch Mono Motronic injection and ignition system was used, which allowed to increase power of available engines.
Features of I generation Skoda Favorit cars
Car interior and exterior were developed by specialists of Stile Bertone Italian company. Petr Hrdlicka, a famous Czech engineer, controlled the project. The car got a black bumper, large square head optics, black outer mirrors on wide mounts. The neat brand emblem, located above the radiator grille, underscored reserved elegance of the front part.
Quality dark trimming materials were used in the interior. The car had a spacious luggage compartment. Its volume in Skoda Favorit hatchback varied from 251 to 1038 liters, that of the station wagon – from 420 to 1300 liters.
Basic trim included folding outer mirrors, windscreen wipers with intermittent mode, rear window heating. Headrests, seat belts, rear doors block were included.
“Comfort” trim featured alloy wheel rims, tinted windows, panoramic roof and central lock. In 1992 Favorit station wagon was produced in Marathon trim dedicated to XXV summer Olympic Games in Barcelona. The car was equipped with railings, sunroof, spoiler on the luggage compartment lid and was available only in Iris Blue colour. Top configuration was “Solitaire”: these cars had dark-red body and were equipped with front fog lights, security system, Blaupunkt Montreux audio system with six speakers.
