The line of the Renault Kangoo vehicles has been produced since 1997. The second generation is manufactured in France, however, earlier, they were assembled in Argentina, Morocco, Malaysia. The electric version called Z.E. was awarded the “International Van of the Year” in 2012. Besides, it was recognised as the “Electric Vehicle of the Year” according to the GreenFleet magazine in 2012 and 2013. This model is also called Mercedes-Benz Citan and Nissan Kubistar.
The History of the Renault Kangoo vehicles
The first generation debuted in 1997 was marketed as a functional family vehicle. Its main advantage was an additional sliding door and some time later the manufacturer added another one. Besides, the Kangoo was designed to have mountings for wheelchairs, therefore, it was popular among disabled people.
In 2007, the second generation was introduced. Engineers paid special attention to the driver’s comfort when designing it. Thus, the new vehicle allowed to make the driver’s position as comfortable as possible by adjusting the height of the steering column, for example. Electric side mirrors were available as an optional extra for an additional charge. Facelifted versions became available since early 2013.
Features of the Renault Kangoo vehicles (ll, facelift)
The new version debuted at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The Kangoo MPV and van gained a new radiator grille which united them with other vehicles from the brand in style. The teardrop-shaped headlights used in the pre-facelift version were replaced by almond-shaped ones. Moreover, the frame of the fog lights changed as well. The bumper grille became bigger and the gap between its bars decreased. The rear optics slightly changed as well.
The designers of the Renault Kangoo van provided drivers with an opportunity to organise their own working place. Thus, the steering column can be easily adjusted. Moreover, there is a great number of compartments for storing things. A folding front passenger’s seat is available as an optional extra. It provides additional room in the cabin. Depending on the wheelbase, the usable load length can be 2.1, 2.5 or 2.9 m.
The manufacturer offers the ESP system of a higher level. It includes the updated traction control system, due to which it is much easier to use the vehicles even on bad roads. Moreover, there is a Hill Start Assist.
