Bosch oil filters are produced by the well-known German company – Robert Bosch GmbH. For more than 80 years it is the expert in filtering elements industry. Types
According to a filtering grade and volume of filtered lubricant there are the following types of Bosch oil filters:
- Full-flow. They are also known as in-line filters. All amount of oil flows through them. They stop large and fine contaminants. The filters are used in most modern cars. They are provided with a special bypass valve, which provides unhampered access for the lubricant in case of its hardening or critical clogging of the filtering element. The latter can be made of cellulose, synthetic fibers or felt cloth.
- By-pass. They provide fine cleaning. Nowadays, they are used with the full-flow ones. About 5-10% oil, which circulates along a separate channel, flows through them. They promote more efficient cleaning of oil. The filters increase the lifespan of the main filter – the full-flow one. Their filtering element is made of special microporous paper or cotton and stops even the smallest contaminants. As such parts clean oil from soot well, they can be found on diesel engines of commercial vehicles and special machines.
- Combined. Their construction includes two filtering elements. Sometimes, a special system of stacked discs, the function of which is to stop the finest contaminants and soot, is used instead of the by-pass filter.
According to a construction the components are divided into:
- Non-demountable. They are replaced together with the casing.
- Cartridges. They are inserted in the housing, integrated in the engine. Their price equals 10% of unit assembly cost.
