The car of W169 generation was created in 2004. 3-door hatchback was added to traditional 5-door one. The manufacturer equipped the cars with numerous safety systems. This, standard equipment included front airbags, stability control system, anti-lock brake system. The car of this generation got maximal rating according to Euro NCAP crash-test results – 5 stars.

The manufacturer presented the third generation of A-Class – W176 on Geneva Motor Show in 2012. The “Sandwich” system wasn’t used any more for this cars, as they were built on a brand new platform, MFA (Modular Front Architecture).
