Daihatsu Feroza is a compact off-roader, which was manufactured in Japan from 1989 to 1999. On the Japanese and American markets the car was sold under the Rocky name, on the British ‒ the Sportrak. From 1992 till 1995 2860 copies of the model were produced under the Bertone Freeclimber 2 name.
History of Daihatsu Feroza cars
The manufacturer presented one generation and one restyled version of the model. Daihatsu Feroza cars were branded as F300. They were offered in 2- and 3-door body versions and had a soft or rigid roof correspondingly. The cars of the early years were equipped with 1.6L carburettor petrol engines of 86 hp output. In 1991, the output was increased to 95 hp; moreover, the manufacturer implemented the multi-point injection system.
Initially, Feroza had part-time AWD, but later the manufacturer also offered packages with full-time all-wheel drive. The cars had stable front wishbone suspension, stiff leaf-spring rear suspension and high clearance of 200 mm. Such construction allowed to efficiently use the car in off-road conditions.
Features of restyled Daihatsu Feroza F300 cars
Debut of the restyled first generation took place in 1994. Still the manufacturer offered Feroza off-roader in two variants: Soft Top and Hard Top. The front bumper of the model became more protruding, the headlights were enlarged and got sharpened inner corners; massive chrome edging appeared around the radiator grille. The brand logo was mounted in the middle of a horizontal bar, which divided the radiator grill in two. Volume of the luggage compartment varied from 272 to 440 liters in Hard Top body version and from 295 to 920 liters ‒ in the cars with soft roof.
