Daihatsu Sirion model was offered in Europe from 1998 till 2011. It was produced in body version of a hatchback. Production took place mostly in Japan. Also, for some time, these cars were rolling off the conveyor in Hungary. The model first generation was known in Japan as Daihatsu Storia. Moreover, similar cars were sold in some Asian countries under Toyota Duet name. The second generation of the model was available on the Japanese market as Daihatsu Boon and Toyota Passo. Also its twins were Subaru Justy and Perodua Myvi.
History of Daihatsu Sirion cars
The model was presented by two generations and two restyled versions. M100 index was used for Daihatsu Sirion cars of the first generation, which appeared in 1998. The manufacturer offered front- and all-wheel drive versions. In 2001 the model was restyled. Simple almond-shaped headlights got more complex form. The radiator grille placed higher and its upper corners were sharpened. A chromed plate with the logo was mounted above the grille. An air inlet appeared on the front bumper; the fog lights were placed onto it.
The second generation, M300, became available since 2005. Extended package of Daihatsu Sirion hatchback had the air conditioner. Also, package with alloy wheels, tachometer and metallic body paint was available. The second model generation was restyled in 2007.
Features of restyled Daihatsu Sirion M300
The renewed car maintained its individual style; only a few exterior elements has been changed. The bumper grille of restyled 5-door Sirion hatchback was wider at the top, not at the bottom as before. The front bumper became more sculptured.
Design of the dashboard changed as the result of restyling. Thus, the tachometer was mounted separately, on the right of the steering wheel. As before, the cars were equipped with the audio-system and function of rear window heating.
