Diagnosis of clutch pressure plate
Diagnosis of the pressure plate should be carried out in complex with the test of the entire clutch system. When the engine is running, press the clutch pedal several times. During these actions, it is important to listen, whether strange sounds appear: squeak, rattle, banging and so on. It is also important that the pedal itself has smooth ride without jamming. Also, do not forget to take measurements of the working stroke (the distance from the pedal to the floor when the clutch mechanism is switched on and off). Fixed rate is no more than 145 millimeters. The next step, start and fully warm up the engine. First, turn the clutch on and then reverse gear. Hearing crunching or grinding, be sure that the pressure plate or the driven plate is faulty in the clutch system.
