Chevrolet Captiva crossover is produced since 2006 in South Korea, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Russia, Vietnam. In some countries the car is sold under other brands: in Australia it was called Holden Captiva 7, in South Korea – Daewoo Windstorm, in the USA – Saturn Vue, in Middle East – GMC Terrain, in Great Britain – Vauxhall Antara, in Europe – Opel Antara.

History of Chevrolet Captiva

One generation and two restyled versions of the model were offered in Europe. World premiere of Chevrolet Captiva took place at Geneva Motor Show in 2006. The cars were equipped with front- and all-wheel part-time drive and were produced in 5- and 7-seat variants. The crossover was one of the first European models of the company, provided with the dynamic stability control (DSC). Standard safety systems also included ABS. Moreover, standard package included airbags for the driver and passenger and seat belts pretensioners. The curtain airbags were included in extended packages.

The car was renewed in 2011. The radiator grille, divided into half by a horizontal bar, was significantly enlarged, the front bumper became more streamlined, and the headlights were narrowed and got rectangular shape. The fog lights were now mounted lower, on black covers. Decorative air inlets on the front fenders were prolonged and the rear lights got transparent lenses.

Features of second restyling of I generation Chevrolet Captiva cars

The second model restyling was presented at Geneva Motor Show in 2013. Designers enlarged the radiator grille cells and accented Captiva fog lights with chromed frames. Shape of the protective bumper covers was changed, the rear lights got upgraded configuration, reflectors on the rear bumper became longer. Exhaust pipe tips got trapezoidal shape.

The list of standard options of basic package expanded. Thus, the steering wheel got buttons for multimedia system control, which supports CD, MP3 and radio and is equipped with USB-socket and Bluetooth interface. The dual-zone climate control and heating of both seat rows are included in extended packages.

The manufacturer also extended the list of security systems for Chevrolet Captiva cars. Apart from remote central locking and anti-theft alarm, there were immobilizer and folded ignition key in standard package.

The car was fit with six airbags, three rear headrests, height-adjustable seat belts with pretensioners. As before, the cars were equipped with the anti-lock brake system, rear parking sensors, electric parking brake. Systems of stability control (ESC) and hill start assist appeared in standard package.

Presentation of the third model restyling for the markets of Japan, China, Thailand, South Africa took place at Dubai International Motor Show in 2015. The car headlights got LED strip daytime running lights. The radiator grille mesh was replaced with large horizontal plank, and the brand logo was moved onto its upper part. The front bumper became more sculptured, and round fog lights were mounted on its sides.
