The History of the BMW X5

There are three generations of the model produced. The representative of the first one, the E53, was unveiled in 1999 at the International Auto Show in Detroit. In 2001, the special version of the X5 crossover «Le Mans» was noted at the legendary race track Nürburgring, where German racing driver Hans-Joachim “Strietzel” Stuck managed to accelerate it to 311 kph. It was the world speed record for crossovers.

In 2006, the E70 had its debut. The technical equipment of the car was improved, in particular, its base trim was updated with the iDrive multimedia system. In 2010, the X5 was facelifted, as a result of which the shape of the front bumper was changed and the fog lights were placed closer to the centre.

The Features of the BMW X5 (F15)

The debut of F15 took place at the International Auto Show, in Frankfurt am Main in autumn 2013. The concept of the car exterior was developed under the supervision of Karim Habib who was the Chief Designer of the BMW company at that time.

The designer of the new crossover body paid a great deal of attention to aerodynamics.
