BMW X3 reviews and experiences
BMW X3 is a compact crossover which has been produced since 2003 until the present day. The company markets the models as a Sports Activity Vehicle. The first generation of the car was made in Graz, Austria together with Magna Steyr AG & Co KG. Later the production of these cars moved to the USA, to Spartanburg, South Carolina. Apart from that, the vehicles are manufactured in Thailand, Egypt, India and Russia. More than once, the model was honoured with prestigious awards, in particular, in 2005, it was recognized as Canadian Car of the Year.
The History of the BMW X3
By the present time, they have produced three generations, the first two of which were facelifted. The presentation of the first generation, the E83, took place at the International Auto Show (Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung), Frankfurt am Main in autumn 2003. Within the first generation, a special version of the car called Cross Country was specially made for rally competition.
The X3, the F25, was introduced at the Paris Auto Show in 2010. The car became larger and gained a more dynamic shape. A crossover from the second generation painted vermilion red metallic became the two millionth vehicle built at the plant in Spartanburg. The car is kept at the plant museum to commemorate this historic event.
The Features of the BMW X3 (G01)
The new X3 (the G01) crossover was introduced in June 2017 at the BMW plant in Spartanburg. The world debut of the car took place in September at the Auto Show in Frankfurt am Main. Compared to the facelifted F25, the car became bigger, in particular, its wheelbase increased by 54 mm, the body has got 51 mm longer, 15 mm higher and 10 mm wider. Special attention should be given to the aerodynamic drag coefficient reduced to 0.29.
The crossover design was developed by Australian designer Calvin Luk. The main feature of the exterior in the car of a new generation is headlights that do not adjoin the radiator grille. The shape of fog lights has also been changed: this time they have an elongated hexagon shape. The BMW X3 G01 is also distinguished by its long rear spoiler on the roof.
The driver and front passenger sports seats in the crossover are ventilated, with comfortable side support. Passengers sitting behind can ride comfily on an ergonomic adjustable three-piece rear seat. High-quality leather, soft plastic, aluminium and natural wood are used in the interior trimming.
The car is equipped with a panoramic glass roof, automatic climate control, air ioniser and freshener and other devices that increase the level of comfort. In particular, the iDrive system with a 10.2-inch screen is installed in the crossover. The display shows various information about the car, the fuel indicator, for instance, as well as navigation system directions, speed limits and other data.
