The car manufacturer equips the vehicles with paper components that are capable of trapping particles as small as 1 micron. Two types of these components are used:
Panel parts. They were fitted on the vehicles of the first generation. Porous accordion-fold paper was used as a filtering media.
Cylinder parts. These were installed on the II generation cars and are effective thanks to their large filtering surface.
As part of engine upgrading, high-flow components can be used. Their filtering medium is made of foam or fabric impregnated with oil. They are characterised by high performance and ease of maintenance. These parts need regular cleaning.

The installation doesn’t require any special skills and takes 10–15 minutes. The steps are the following:
open the bonnet;
undo the four fastening screws;
remove the housing lid;
extract the worn component;
wipe the housing inside with a damp cloth;
apply some silicone lubricant to the seal of the part;
pull the hose slightly towards the engine and carefully insert the new part into its mounting seat until it clicks in place;
cover the housing with the lid and tighten the fasteners.
